Calgary rock trio ROOKS share their new single “Yeah“, from their forthcoming debut album, The High Road,  due out November 6, 2020 (ROOKS Music Inc.). The single is accompanied by a brand new video captured on an iPhone 10.

“Yeah” isinspired by the countless hours logged on stage between its three members. The track is lead singer/guitarist Jay Bowcott’s way of venting as he navigates the world of the working musician. “This life ain’t an easy one, musicians are constantly trying to learn how to evolve with an ever-changing industry. You play everywhere to get by, you cut your teeth, you woodshed, and when it’s all said and done you’ve had enough wild and outlandish experiences to put together some of your own songs.” “Yeah”is about how you learn to adapt and be resilient no matter the circumstances.

The High Road LP features 8 original songs, such as the previously released single “Connection”. The band includes Bowcott from Calgary, AB, Darryl Swart originally from Durban, South Africa on Drums, and Brent Rossall originally from Montreal, QC on Bass. Stay tuned for more info on the new album!

What’s The Story about ROOKS?

ROOKS is a 3 piece rock band formed in Calgary, Alberta. “I sing my own goddamn song!” shouts lead vocalist and guitarist Jay Bowcott on the harmonica drenched single “Yeah” from their debut album The High Road. Set for a worldwide release on November 6, 2020 – the new collection of songs, including lead single “Connection” beautifully encapsulate the sounds, lyrics, and production that a true rock band strives for.

The band – comprised of Bowcott, Darryl Swart on drums and Brent Rossall on bass – all grew up with rock and roll in their house and one can hear the influences of legends such as Thin Lizzy and The Rolling Stones, along with more current bands The Black Keys and The Raconteurs. ROOKS’ members have been cutting their teeth in all aspects of the music industry for many years. Whether it be honing their skills with collaborative work as songwriters and session players; or sitting behind the board as engineers and producers; or hitting the road as tour managers, the trio is taking each day as they come all the while fine-tuning their incredible live show.
