Following a well-deserved standing ovation at Massey Hall last weekend, Canada’s very own Royal Wood is celebrating the release of his eighth full-length studio album, WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS. A collection of 11 tracks that came together and were perfected over the course of the last 24 months, the album delivers the perfect soundtrack for those who recognize the beauty found in the unknown.
“I am so humbled by this body of work,” explained Wood on the project’s release. “I can truly say that this is the first time I didn’t have to abandon a project because of tour dates or studio deadlines. Although it was finished before the pandemic even began, the time I had during those unpredictable years allowed me to dig deep and fine-tune the album in a way I’ve never been able to before. I know, without a doubt, this is the best work of my career and I’m so looking forward to seeing how fans react to it.”
Written and recorded with some of the world’s biggest producers including Linda Perry (Adele, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera), this project is full of real songs that tell real stories, with many feeling deeply personal for Wood. “During the writing of this album, I lost a parent, fell in love, got married and became a father. These experiences definitely allowed me to write from a place of pure vulnerability and create the most carefully crafted and inspired lyrics of my career.”
Preempted with the release of three singles — “Armour.” “Make Believe” and “One of You” — WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS is available across all streaming platforms as of today. Bringing one more track to the forefront, Wood has released the official video to the album’s focus track “One More Night.” Self-described by the songwriter as “what would happen if Billy Joel and Phil Collins had a baby and that baby was a song,” the track highlights the power of having one last night together, and what can happen when love is given one last chance to bloom.
Fans are also able to get a look into how the album came together via What Tomorrow Brings: Behind The Music, a mini-documentary released by Wood earlier this fall. This incredible deep dive into Wood’s creative process can be viewed HERE.
Boasting multiple JUNO Award and Canadian Folk Music Award nominations and named “Songwriter of the Year” by iTunes (2010), Wood’s catalogue has earned high-profile sync placements on award-winning shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Working Moms. Headlining shows around the globe, Wood has also performed alongside major symphonies and opened national tours for legendary artists like Bonnie Raitt and David Gray. Recently wrapping an Ontario tour, Wood is slated to head out on the road throughout 2023 in support of WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to his socials for updates.
