Sid Simons will releases the heartfelt “Toy Gun” from his upcoming sophomore LP Beneath the Brightest Smiles on Jullian Records. The track is the second to be released ahead of the LP, following the rollicking first single “Wendy.” “Toy Gun” encourages a boyhood friend tackling a difficult background. When asked about the track Sid shared, “‘Toy Gun’ is a song for my childhood friend. Who had a really rough upbringing. It’s a song for him saying ‘I’m proud of you for how far you’ve come.’”

Along with this news, Simons will be bringing his raucous live show to NYC’s Heaven Can Wait on Thursday May 11th at 9:30 pm. When Simons played SXSW recently, Paste Magazine praised his performance as one of “The 20 Best Acts We Saw at SXSW 2023,” testimony that his live show is not to
be missed! Beau, a fellow NYC band, opens the show and the DJ set will be provided by Charlotte Rose
Benjamin.

For the upcoming Beneath the Brightest Smiles LP, Simons has created a stunning nine-track project with the help of super producer Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor) with mixing by Dave
Rowland (Post Malone, The-Dream, Pusha T, Ellie Goulding) at Mercy Sound Recording Studios (Blondie, TV On The Radio, Yoko Ono) in NYC’s East Village. Simons self-produced and engineered two tracks on Beneath the Brightest Smiles, while Paul Blackwell (Savants, Shilpa Ray, Zack Mexico) handled production, engineering, and mixing duties on the first single “Wendy.”

A staple of the downtown NYC music scene community, Sid Simons is Brooklyn based, but spent his
formative years all over the world. Born in Portland, OR, he was raised in Sydney, Australia, moved to
NYC in his early teens and attended high school in Shanghai, China before returning to New York where,
eschewing his final year of school, he opted to pursue a career in music. Formerly GIRL SKIN, Simons
now performs under his own name with a versatile backing band. His voice is reminiscent of T. Rex’s
Marc Bolan and his electrifying onstage performance invokes the spirit and swagger of Iggy Pop, Mick
Jagger, and Liam Gallagher. Look for Beneath the Brightest Smiles out June 23rd via Jullian Records.
