Vancouver Alt-Folk Artist, Syd Warwick (formerly Abraham) is releasing her newest single ‘Moon Kin’ as well as revealing her new name Syd Warwick. ‘Moon Kin’ was recorded in 2019 at Protection Island Studios in Maple Ridge, BC. It was produced, mixed, and engineered by Scott Currie, and mastered by Greg Calbi. Syd will also have two live stream performances coinciding with the single release.

‘Moon Kin’ is about the pain of not being able to connect with the people around you, when all you want is love. Secondly, it’s about creating an identity around outrunning ideas and expectations, that would seek to keep you small. Syd mentions that “the kindest thing she was called as a child was crazy” among many other negative things, the bullying made her feel very isolated and alone. She is taking her power back and hopes others can find their power in this story. The song starts with soft instrumentals leading us into Syd’s somber and emotional vocals. The chorus brings power, leading into the driven and more energetic second verse. You’ll hear beautiful harmonies, layered vocals and a sweeping landscape of instruments that give the perfect foundation to the deep lyrics Syd is singing straight from her heart.

“I hope that  ‘Moon Kin’ can inspire listeners to embrace all parts of themselves. To accept, feel and let be any emotion that comes along with finding your place in the world. With tender hands, hold the pain that arises from not feeling seen (it’s natural, it’s okay). While at the exact same time, have the strength to unapologetically be who they are. Regardless of who might be unimpressed, or who it might upset.” – Syd
