With her fourth studio album, Reasons To Stay,Tanika Charles plays a series of intimate letters to members of her family, to herself and to the listener. The strain put on love built in a broken home and the struggle to navigate relationships left behind when a family falls apart echo through the song. About a love challenged by circumstance, expectations, and the need to grow up too fast, this track honours the enduring bond between those who have had to survive the worst, and the patience and time necessary for healing. “Here When You’re Ready” shows the band mastering a less is more approach as Ms. Charles holds space for reconciliation.
