Canadian alt-rock duo, The Lookout Service, kick off 2024 with the release of their latest single, “Moving Away”, the third single from their forthcoming debut full-length album, “The Gambit”, out on March 1, 2024.
“Moving Away” is an energetic yet bittersweet farewell anthem written after a close friend announced they were relocating thousands of miles away. Crafted by the Toronto-based duo, Stergios Kalochoridis (vocals & guitar) and Robert Ragazzo (drums), the song encapsulates the raw emotion of bidding farewell with a distinct blend of thunderous drums, magnetic guitar riffs, and abundant gang vocals, capturing the essence of a live crowd experience.
Despite the melancholic theme of losing a friend, the song radiates a vibrant and happy feel, creating a striking contrast between the uplifting musical arrangement and the lyrics.
The Lookout Service has successfully forged a sound that is distinctly their own, blending gritty indie rock with garage rock influences, culminating in a sound that is unique while also evoking a sense of familiarity. The band’s monumental sound and electrifying stage presence have firmly embedded them as one of Toronto’s most dynamic live bands, often playing to shoulder-to-shoulder crowds at legendary venues such as The El Mocambo, The Rivoli, and The Horseshoe Tavern.
Two previously released singles, “I Am The Dragon” and “Rough Around the Edges”, will also appear on the forthcoming album. Both singles were released to streaming with accompanying music videos.
