Nashville has become more than a second home to multi-PLATINUM duo The Reklaws, inspiring their next release —  “Honky Tonkin’ About” feat. international breakout artist and Fort Worth (Texas) native Drake Milligan. Slipping into their country roots with unmistakable southern tones, the new track featuring Milligan, a familiar face on America’s Got Talent, will deliver the rowdy Reklaws party in a way that traditional country music fans will openly embrace.

“No surprise given the name, ”Honky Tonkin’ About” feels a little more western than what you might be used to from The Reklaws, which is why we called in Drake to help out on this one,” said Jenna Walker of The Reklaws. “We’re so excited to have him bring his authentic, Texas spirit to what we hope will be this summer’s biggest party anthem.”

Written by Stuart Walker (The Reklaws), Blake Redferrin (Florida Georgia Line), Thomas “Tawgs” Salter (Lights, Josh GrobanHunter Hayes)  and Callum Maudsley, the track came together as the group dreamed of being able to get back into bars and onto stages during wide-spread lockdowns in 2021. “We were trying to pull ourselves out of a funk one day during the pandemic so we sat down and thought about what we would want to party to at a honky tonk on a Friday night with our friends. From those daydreams, this song was born,” shared Stuart Walker.

“I was honoured to get the call to be on my first ever feature with The Reklaws,” said Milligan. “They are so much fun to work with!”

The music video for the western-inspired new track will premiere next month, taking fans on a wild journey into the depths of an American honky tonk during the 1800s. Featuring appearances from Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore), Robert Knepper (Prison Break) and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) the video was shot on-site in Romania on the set of The Grey House (Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman) with an Oscar award-winning team.

In addition to today’s release, earlier this month, the record-setting duo was announced as the hosts for the 2023 CCMA Awards, taking place live from Hamilton, ON on September 16 and broadcast on CTV. This comes in addition to their five nominations, which include nods for Fans’ Choice, Album of the Year, Group or Duo of the Year, as well as Single of the Year, and Musical Collaboration of the Year for their #1 and recently PLATINUM-certified track, “11 Beers” feat. Jake Owen. The Reklaws will do double-duty on the Awards this year with a performance during the broadcast in addition to hosting the biggest night in Canadian country music.

Bringing their epic live show into the homes of fans across the country, today, The Reklaws are also dropping their first live album, The Reklaws: Live At History. Reminiscing on their sold-out record-setting show, becoming the first country artists to sell out Toronto’s iconic new venue History earlier this year during their Winter’s a Beach Tour, the album captures all the award-winning pair’s top hits and the unmatched energy of their live show to perfection.
