By Natalie Mason – Electric Forest time is nearly upon us. I’m so excited to get back to the forest this year and photograph all the beautiful people and colours. Last year was my first time at the Forest and there was so much to enjoy and explore. The magic of Sherwood Forest comes alive and it really is a sight to behold. I think that the Honeycomb stage might be my favourite. I walked by while exploring and came upon a set from Levity which blew my mind. I think that it’s very important while at Electric Forest to take time to just explore and experience the beauty and the incredible design and work that is put into making this dream festival a reality each year. Whether it’s checking out the Dream Emporium, looking for fairy houses, or answering random phones in the forest, there’s something new and unique all over.
Electric Forest is a full of incredible music but it’s so much more. There is so much art and love throughout so many of the special programs that they offer. The Plug In programs are an opportunity for the forest family to create and be a part of shaping the Electric Forest experience. Her Forest, Prize Cart and workshops at the Brainery are just a few of these plug in programs. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes of the Discovery Project, a new initiative to showcase up and coming talented DJ/Producers. Everywhere you look, there is art and beauty and people connecting and having the time of their lives. The people of Forest are integral to this festival. The friendships are all around and made my heart happy. Photographing the people was something I truly enjoyed and I even managed to catch a wedding.
Electric Forest takes place in Rothbury, Michigan from June 20th to 23rd 2024. With a stellar musical lineup, I’m personally most excited to watch the Pretty Lights show plus I’ll need to catch at least one set from The String Cheese Incident. But most of all I can’t wait to just chill in the forest and enjoy the view from a hammock.
