Krista Hartman is known for her desire to genuinely connect with others through her heartfelt music. Her latest record, Transcend, explores themes of alignment and contemplates the connection between mind, soul body and spirit. It was produced by Jordon Zadorozny who has co-written songs with Courtney Love.
Transcend Track Listing:
1. I’M YOUR GARDEN (3:44): a soulful song for anybody who has ever struggled to sustain a relationship. It’s about trying to cultivate long-lasting love with a partner.
2. PSYCHIC LADY FROM MONTREAL (3:53): a ballad about a clairvoyant woman I crossed paths with over several decades. She was an empath who wore sunglasses to dull out people’s auras. She was perhaps the most fascinating woman I have ever met in the world. “Psychic Lady” is my tribute to her.
3. FLOWER CHILD (4:23): a vulnerable and earthy ballad; one that unravels a renegade’s initiation journey. FLOWER CHILD explores the value of spirituality and the process of honouring the authentic self in a complex world.
4. MOONLIT MOTEL (2:46): examines the value of escapism to hone in on intrinsic passions.
5. THE DARKEST HOURS (3:30): a contemplative and hopeful ballad about clinging to light when life seems melancholic.
6. HIGHER THAN SKIES (3:42): a happy-sad song about the fight it takes to keep going as an artist and the magical feeling that comes along with holding strong and pursuing the craft in defiance of all odds.
7. LULLABY (2:09): a spirited anti-lullaby. The song in itself is a perfect juxtaposition. “Lullaby” is a slumber party song, it’s meant to wake us up instead of lull us to sleep.
8. GUARDIAN ANGEL (3:43): A vulnerable ballad for anyone who has ever lost a loved one.
Hartman’s fourth commercial record, Transcend follows Constellations (2015), Nostalgia (2010)(which featured a duet, “Broken in Two” with Ron Sexsmith and Passport (2005 self-produced).
