Hot off a two-month feature as the Pure Country Future Star, Owen’s single has been climbing the Canadian Country charts quickly, currently #35 at Country Radio, and getting played at 27 stations across Canada, with new adds every week. Online Owen has over 4.5 million streams, with the new single landing top spots on some of Canada’s most coveted playlists such as Apple Music’s “Today’s Country”, Spotify’s “All About Country”, Amazon Music’s “Fresh Country”, and YouTube Music UK’s “Nashville Dreaming”. Owen has spent the past few years building buzz on his YouTube with various covers, including Shawn Mendes “In My Blood” and Niall Horan’s “Slow Hands”.

This is my FIRST music video so when we were putting together the concept, I was kind of nervous because I didn’t know what to expect or how it would turn out;” shares Owen. “But as soon as we started the shoot, I was completely into it and had a lot of fun. All it took was having a couple of drinks, hanging by the pool, picking some guitar and humming a few bars. Having to stay home while making this video ended up being the best part about it. I don’t think it gets much better than that.”

What’s The Story About Owen Barney?
Born and raised in Toronto, country artist Owen Barney has been strumming the guitar since he was just 7 years old, influenced by country heavy-hitters Eric Church, Dean Brody, and Jason Aldean. He has played shows around Toronto from the age of 14, and has spent the last few years honing his skills as a performer. “Barney’s maturity and natural talent as a performer allows him to be a storyteller so young in his career,” says Front Porch Music, while Canadian Beats commends Owen’s ability to “fuse soulful song writing and easy breezy vocals.”

“What I’ve always hoped for myself is to someday be performing to a crowd that knows every word of my songs,” says Barney. With his debut single “Letting Go” grabbing the attention of country fans across Canada and garnering over 2 million streams worldwide, placing Owen at #13 on the Spotify Global Viral Chart, Owen has certainly hit the ground running. Last summer, Owen had the pleasure of performing at several major festivals, including the Horton Hoedown, Country Wild Fest, and Toronto’s Beer Festival. Owen also made his debut at Canada’s biggest country festival Boots & Hearts last August. With Owen’s most recent single “Thank Her For That” climbing the charts, Owen is poised to continue his ascent through the ranks of Canadian country music.
