Originally released a year ago, Freedom Is The Purpose is a powerful and raw offering written in response to the relentless injustices that continue to impact our world. Out today, the stripped rework of the track comes as an important reminder to keep having these essential conversations and speaking up if you can. Sharing more MIRI explained: ‘We are still witnessing Genocides and there is so much misinformation being spread on socials and in the media. The far right is in full effect, in the UK we have police arresting people holding signs. There are more of us than the people making decisions that benefit themselves and the 1% yet we are becoming a more authoritarian country. Releasing this version a year later allows me to continue to speak up and out whilst I still have the freedom to do so. I cannot take that freedom for granted.’

MIRI is a singer-songwriter and multidisciplinary artist born and based in London via Essex. Through her own unique style of outspoken and soulful pop, she uses her music to drive social change, raise awareness and fight for justice. Unafraid to delve into political injustice and the multitude of challenges we confront both within ourselves and in the world around us, a certain courage threads through the various areas of MIRI’s creative practice that shouldn’t go unnoticed.
