Expect the unexpected from Welcome Home, Alan Doyle’s sixth solo studio album and 20th of his career, scheduled for release on February 9 (PRE-ORDER HERE). While upholding his status as a perennial merrymaker — a reputation burnished by his years with acclaimed folk-pop combo Great Big Sea — the new album also finds the multifaceted singer-songwriter and 14-time JUNO Award nominee exploring novel sonic terrain.
Alongside marquee co-writers Jimmy Rankin, Donovan Woods, and actor Oscar Isaac, Doyle presents nine original songs – recorded in Montreal with producer-engineer Marcus Paquin – ranging from his signature fiercely rollicking party tracks to tunes that are surprisingly intimate. Doyle says it’s his most personal and understated album that he’s ever released.
“I have always struggled with the middle ground. I love playing live so much and I have been rightly accused of writing songs more for concerts than albums. Most people who come to my shows want that kind of night out. So, I have overlooked the lower and slower: the lower part of my vocal range and the slower songs. I’m letting myself do that for the first time on this record.”
Following the release of the title track late last year, Doyle is giving fans another sneak peek at the album today, with the joyful album opener “Yours and Mine,” crafted with Rankin, the East Coast legend and one of Doyle’s songwriting heroes (LISTEN NOW).
“It was a thrill to work in his orbit,” says Doyle. “This one’s about being a parent and watching children growing and going…and hoping you stay with them when they do.”

Doyle and his Beautiful Beautiful Band are gearing up to hit the road for an extensive North American tour. The run starts on February 20 in Kelowna, BC, and will take him across Canada and the U.S. for 45 shows, wrapping up on May 18 in Homer, NY. Indie rock singer-songwriter Adam Baldwin will be Doyle’s special guest on all dates.

Alan Doyle is a multifaceted singer-songwriter, going on three decades strong as a musician – first as a member of the much-celebrated band Great Big Sea and now as an internationally acclaimed solo artist. His CV is extensive — he is a thrice-published author, a film and TV actor-producer with multiple major credits, and the co-producer of the recently released, 20-song Ron Hynes tribute album, Sonny Don’t Go Away.
