Acclaimed Canadian artist Jenn Grant has announced her forthcoming album Queen of the Strait, set for release in early 2026. The record marks Grant’s most personal work to date — a deeply cinematic exploration of love, loss, and transformation. This week, she announced Cradled by the Waves – The Live Experience – the groundbreaking live tour that will transform the album into a stunning multimedia performance blending music, film, theatre, and dance. Venue and Artist presales begin today at 10 am LOCAL, with public onsale tomorrow, Friday, November 7th at 10 am LOCAL. More details can be found below and at www.jenngrant.com

The album’s lead single, “Jim Cuddy Dress,” released this fall, offers a poignant glimpse into the world of Queen of the Strait. A tribute to her late mother, the song captures the album’s themes of memory and rebirth through Grant’s unmistakable voice and lyrical grace.

“This album is a culmination of the stories of my life. My most personal record I’ve ever made to date which I feel so proud to stand by,” shares Grant. “I’m dedicating it to my brother, who I shared so many of these childhood moments with, travelling the Northumberland Strait between PEI and Nova Scotia after the separation of our parents and seeing our mother build a new life. It is about life and death, the importance of grieving well, abuse, love and longing. It’s a tribute to my ancestors and a warm blanket for you like a colourful magical quilt. Sometimes funny and quirky, then dark and dreamy.”

Recorded live off the floor at her home studio in Lake Echo, NS — without headphones and over just four days — Queen of the Strait was co-produced by longtime collaborators Daniel Ledwell and Joshua Van Tassel. The result is a collection that feels alive, raw, and spiritually grounded in the landscape that has long inspired her songwriting.

Queen of the Strait draws from Jenn Grant’s childhood in Prince Edward Island and the timeless pull of the Atlantic. The live experience reimagines those songs in motion — a moving meditation on grief, transformation, and the beauty of beginning again.

Each show is an immersive, cinematic experience featuring a live band, curated film sequences, and interpretive movement. Together, these elements create a dreamlike landscape where the songs flow seamlessly into one another.

Co-created with a celebrated team of collaborators, including producers Daniel Ledwell and Joshua Van Tassel, Irish director Julie Kelleher, and cinematographer Daniel Grant, Cradled by the Waves invites audiences to reflect on love, loss, and the fragility of life through a communal and deeply emotional lens.

Cradled by the Waves will tour select Canadian cities in 2026. Step through the Portal and be part of a shared moment that blurs the line between audience and artist — a living, breathing work of art that changes with every performance.

Co-produced by Jenn Grant, Blue Grace Music, and the National Arts Centre’s National Creation Fund.
