Hailing from the ancient market town of Bedford, England, and raised on the American roots music spinning from her Anglo-Indian grandmother’s record collection, soulful Americana singer-songwriter Danni Nicholls has spent the last decade carving out a respected place on the global roots scene. Now proudly based in Nashville, TN, her long-dreamed-of spiritual home, she continues to grow her stateside presence, tour widely, and prepare for the release of her forthcoming fourth full-length studio album, Making Moves.
Danni’s musical journey was sparked by a chance encounter with Nashville producer and bassist Chris Donohue (Emmylou Harris), which led to the making of her critically acclaimed albums A Little Redemption (2012) and Mockingbird Lane (2015). Both featured legendary Nashville players, including Al Perkins, Will Kimbrough, and Steve Fishell, and received rave reviews for their authenticity and emotional depth. Her third studio album, The Melted Morning (2019), produced by Jordan Brooke Hamlin (Brandi Carlile, Indigo Girls), revealed a more intimate and haunting sonic landscape and was widely praised for its vulnerability and originality. Since then, Danni has continued to evolve with a live album, a covers collection, and a string of well-received singles.
Her upcoming album, Making Moves, produced by Sarah Peacock, marks a bold new chapter – blending rootsy warmth with subtle modern textures and reflecting a period of resilience, reinvention, and forward motion. The record finds Danni stepping more fully into her own power, embracing change, and writing with renewed clarity about growth, courage, and letting go.
