Photos by Sharon Steele – Angine de Poitrine is an enigmatic experimental math-rock duo hailing from Saguenay, Quebec, that has taken the international alternative music scene by storm. Performing as the masked personas Khn de Poitrine and Klek de Poitrine, the pair disguises their identities behind oversized paper-mâché heads and polka-dotted costumes, delivering a self-described “mantra-rock dada pythago-cubiste” sound. Their explosive mix of dizzying microtonal guitar riffs, hypnotic loop pedals, and thunderous drumming creates a chaotic yet deeply mesmerizing sonic carnival that bridges the gap between progressive math-rock, avant-garde art, and raw punk energy.
First forming in 2019 as a clandestine side project, the group carved out an underground following with their independent debut, Vol. 1 (2024), before completely erupting into global view. Driven by viral live performances—including a widely celebrated KEXP session—and the release of their sophomore album Vol. II (2026), Angine de Poitrine has quickly moved from regional festivals to selling out headline tours across North America and Europe.
