Photos by Geoffrey Clowes – The Joe Perry Project is the hard-rocking side project of legendary Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. Formed in 1979 during a temporary split from Aerosmith, the band allowed Perry to explore a rawer, more aggressive sound rooted in blues and classic rock. With a rotating lineup of talented musicians, the Joe Perry Project released a string of energetic albums including Let the Music Do the Talking (1980), I’ve Got the Rock ‘n’ Rolls Again (1981), and Once a Rocker, Always a Rocker (1983).

While never achieving the mainstream success of Aerosmith, the Joe Perry Project earned a loyal cult following and is praised for its gritty, no-frills rock ‘n’ roll approach. Perry’s signature guitar tone and songwriting are front and center, delivering tracks that showcase his love for blues riffs, explosive solos, and stripped-down rock production. The project has also served as a creative outlet for Perry during breaks from Aerosmith, allowing him to work outside the commercial constraints of the band.

In recent years, Perry has revived the Joe Perry Project for new tours and recordings, bringing fresh energy to the stage while staying true to the spirit of the original lineup. With decades of influence behind him and a continued passion for live performance, the Joe Perry Project remains a powerful example of Joe Perry’s enduring rock legacy.
