xit Wounds, the new EP from Australian indie-rock sensation, Spacey Jane, is set for release on June 12 via Concord. In conjunction, the band’s new track “I Never See Her” premieres today on FLOOD Magazinealongside an accompanying video. Of the track, FLOODproclaims, “Spacey Jane gets caught in the middle of their feelings on new high-tempo Bop.” The new music builds on the band’s unstoppable momentum, following the release of their critically acclaimed third studio album, If That Makes Sense.
“‘I Never See Her’ is about rationalizing a breakup,” says frontman Caleb Harper. “It’s a conversation you have with yourself when you’re delaying the inevitable and anticipating the grief. It’s also about longing for a place that will hold you and keep you safe – trying to define what home means and where it is.”
Produced by Day Wave (Calum Hood, Pete Yorn, Olivia O’Brien) and mixed by Lars Stalfors, Exit Wounds was written and recorded in Los Angeles during the making of If That Makes Sense. The band’s previously released track “Do You Really Love Her” hit the Viral 50 Charts in both U.S and Australia.
Spacey Jane is also set to take their lauded live show back on the road this summer for an extensive run of dates. Kicking off on June 2, The If That Makes Sense Tour includes major festival appearances at Governors Ball Music Festival, Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and Osheaga Festival as well as a run of shows supporting Rainbow Kitten Surprise. The new record follows 2022’s Here Comes Everybody and 2020’s Sunlight. The band became a hometown sensation after the release of Sunlight, topping Triple J’s annual album poll with breakout single “Booster Seat” and earning the ARIA for Song of the Year. Inspired by the success of their debut album, Spacey Jane got to work on their sophomore album, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts and earned them the title of Triple J’s most played artist in 2022.
