There can be beauty in the tough stuff – the things that build strength, resilience, and character. Americana/alt-country singer-songwriter Sara Milonovich explores the difficulties and darkness, and also the glimmers of hope, of agrarian places and sets it all to gorgeous, fiddle-laden music. Alongside her band Daisycutter, she has composed a new album, “Last Resort Motor Inn,” which travels the highways and byways of the rural Northeast lyrically and musically. Sometimes her fiddle sings a sorrowful song; other times it wails through a Fender stack. Dobro, banjo, and hurdy-gurdy provide color and drama. It’s music for thinking and feeling, for introspection and perception. We sat down with Sara recently to learn more about “Last Resort Motor Inn,” the stories behind some of the songs, and how such a beautiful album came to be and came together.
