Photos by Sharon Steele – Canadian singer-songwriter Cameron Whitcomb is making headlines as one of the most compelling new voices in country music. Following the explosive success of his debut EP Quitter, the Nanaimo-born artist has racked up six Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Award nominations, including Entertainer of the Year, Single of the Year, and Breakthrough Artist.
Whitcomb, 22, first gained attention with his high-energy performance on American Idol Season 20, where his unfiltered style and fearless backflips went viral. Since then, he’s evolved from a motorcycle mechanic and pipeline worker to a rising star, drawing millions of streams and charting hits with tracks like “Medusa,” “Options,” “Bad Apple,” and the fan-favorite “Hundred Mile High.”
This summer, Whitcomb is taking the stage with his “Hundred Mile High Tour,” selling out venues across Canada and the U.S. His Port Alberni show made local history when overwhelming demand forced organizers to move the event outdoors.
“I don’t make perfect music,” says Whitcomb, “I make real music. I write what I live, and that’s all I’ve ever known how to do.”
With raw lyrics, genre-bending country-rock sound, and a captivating live presence, Whitcomb has fast become a name to watch. His journey—marked by hard-earned sobriety, social media traction, and authentic storytelling—resonates with a growing global fanbase.
