Photos by Sharon Steele – Grammy-winning soul icon Macy Gray is making a powerful return in 2025 with a slate of new projects that highlight her signature voice, fearless creativity, and staying power in the music industry.
After a seven-year hiatus from solo records, Gray is set to release a new studio album this September, promising a raw, stripped-down sound that puts her unmistakable vocals front and center. The album marks her first major solo release since Ruby in 2018.
To celebrate 25 years since her breakout debut On How Life Is—featuring the timeless hit I Try—Gray is also on an international anniversary tour. She’s been hitting intimate venues across the UK and Europe this summer, and will wrap up the U.S. leg in Los Angeles this August.
Beyond music, Gray is branching out into film and TV. She recently voiced a character in the animated movie Sneaks, which hit theaters earlier this year, and made waves with a surprise appearance as “Toad in the Hole” on The Masked Singer UK.
Gray also continues to push boundaries with new formats. In 2024, she released the high-energy single “I AM” with Big Freedia, embracing web3 and digital art with an NFT-powered launch on Gala Music. She followed that with “Your Love Keeps Me”, keeping her creative momentum going.
With a new album, global tour, and fresh collaborations, 2025 is shaping up to be one of Macy Gray’s boldest years yet.
